Frances L. LeRoy

Frances L. LeRoy, 97, Houghton Lake, died Jan. 14, 2011, at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, Houghton Lake.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Visitation will be at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 17. Interment will be in Gerrish Township Cemetery, Higgins Lake.

Born Jan. 13, 1914 in Shiawassee County she was the daughter of John and Eunice (Hymon) Mabon, both who preceded her in death. She grew up in the Owosso area and graduated from Owosso High School. She was married May 26, 1934 in Laingsburg to Wayne LeRoy and he preceded Frances in death in 1994. The couple moved to the Higgins Lake and Houghton Lake area over 40 years ago. She was a member of Pittsburg United Methodist Church and Houghton Lake United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Dorothy Sumerix of Higgins Lake; son, Howard “Curly” and Dorothy “Dottie” LeRoy of Houghton Lake; three grandchildren, John Sumerix of Albuquerque, NM, Heidi Kolp of St. Johns and Scott LeRoy of Portage; five great-grandchildren, Ken, April, Zack, Sydney and Alexis and four foster grandchildren, Don, Cindy, Mary and Brian.

Those wishing to make memorial donations in her memory are asked to consider the Pittsburg United Methodist Church or Houghton Lake United Methodist Church.
