GETTING READY FOR THE THAW

Michigan Department of Transportation worker Aaron Begley (left, in snowblower) and Justin Akin (driving truck) of the Roscommon County Road Commission use an eight-foot wide snowblower to take down the banks along the south side of M-55 at Houghton Lake Monday morning. Bob Bedell, RCRC foreman said that crews would be working on a 10-mile stretch along the roadway in order to clear the drains before a coming thaw. The National Weather Service was predicting temperatures above freezing and rain beginning Wednesday.
