Holy Thursday service planned

Markey Community Baptist Church and Good Shepherd of the North United Methodist Church will combine to celebrate a Holy Thursday Candlelight Communion Service in the Markey sanctuary at 7 p.m,

Pastors Eric Kieb of Good Shepherd and Jim Kent of Markey Baptist will be presiding over the April 21 service. The public is invited.

The evening will begin with songs and Bible readings related to Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. Candles will be lighted and extinguished and relighted as the story of that evening is told. A special song about that night written by Steve Oppy and Jim Kent will be presented by Valli Smith. Pictures of the Garden of Gethsemane, which were taken last month in Israel will be projected as a backdrop. The evening will conclude with candle lighting and singing.
