STEWARDS OF THE YEAR

Betty Tramel and her husband Ben (not pictured) were recently named Michigan Inland Lakes Stewards of the Year by the Michigan Lake and Stream Association. The Tramels were named for their “outstanding leadership, team work, and dedication in preserving and protecting Michigan’s freshwater heritage for future generations.” Owners of the Lakeside Motel at 9104 Old 27 on Houghton Lake’s West Shore for 21 years, the Tramels developed their lakefront to preserve its natural look and function as part of the lake’s ecosystem.
