‘Project Appleseed’ teaches marksmanship

Teaching skills of marksmanship with a rifle was the purpose of a program last weekend at the Houghton Lake Sportsmens Club for young girls, boys and adults.

The two-day course taught skills and details about rifle shooting in the positions of prone, sitting, and standing. The course was designed for beginners as well as seasoned experts.

The course, named Project Appleseed, adopted its theme of “Appleseed” from the likes of the minutemen of 1776, for teaching shooting and marksmanship.

The expert certified trainers and line personnel took turns teaching the various aspects of marksmanship.
