Laur, Brown wed in Mt. Pleasant

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Laur Mr. and Mrs. Ben Laur Benjamin Douglas Laur and Lauren Alyssa Brown exchanged wedding vows Aug. 14, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

The Rev. Eric Woods of His House Christian Fellowship at Central Michigan University officiated the double-ring ceremony. Scripture readings were given by the uncle of the bride, the Rev. James D. Erickson of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alpena.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Joscelyn Brown. Bridesmaids were Gina Boscarino, Jodi Cornell, Kristin Hoyt and Dani Laur, all friends of the bride, and Julie Laur, sister of the groom. Attending the groom as his best man was his friend, Timothy Miller. Groomsmen were Benjamen Evers, Charles Hughes, Gordon Jensen, Erick Klassen, all friends of the groom and David Laur, brother of the groom.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Centennial Hall, Mt. Pleasant. The couple honeymooned in Orlando, FL.

The groom is the son of Douglas and Cindy Laur of Prudenville. He is a 2002 graduate of Houghton Lake High School and a 2010 graduate of Central Michigan University. He is a graduate teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University, where he teaches voice and studies vocal performance.

The bride is the daughter of Alan and Sheryl Brown, of Portage, formerly of Alpena. Lauren is a 2005 graduate of Alpena High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Central Michigan University in 2010. She is a graduate teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she teaches English and studies literature.

The couple lives in Bowling Green, OH.
