Gumball Rally has Houghton Lake checkpoint

The Michigan Gumball Rally will be checking in at Houghton Lake Aug. 6.

Beginning in West Bloomfield and traveling to the Upper Peninsula and back, the objective of the 100-car rally is to stay within the convoy by not breaking down and not getting pulled over. Driver/passenger teams will participate in checkpoint challenges along the way to acquire points which could help them win a $15,000 purse.

Houghton Lake’s Super Car Wash at 7167 West Houghton Lake Drive (M- 55) will serve as a checkpoint on Aug. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m., according to car wash owner Steve Nielsen.

More information on the rally is available at www.michigangumball.com.
