Houghton Lake Community Schools will be registering new students for the 2011-2012 year beginning Aug. 22

Collins Elementary (kindergarten through third grade), Houghton Lake Middle School (4th-7th grades) and Alternative Education will register new students Aug. 22-25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Houghton Lake High School (8th- 12th grades) will register new students Aug. 23-25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HLMS will hold an open house on Sept. 6 from 4-5 p.m. Students and parents can meet teachers and staff and enjoy a hot dog picnic.

Collins will hold its open house Sept. 6 from 5-6 p.m. Students will get a chance to meet teachers, staff and enjoy an ice cream social.

An 8th grade orientation will be held Sept. 6 beginning at 6 p.m. at the high school.

Classes will begin for all students on Sept. 7.
