140-YARD SHOT 
Jessie Tyo, 13, of Houghton Lake, shot this 7-point buck on Sept. 25during the annual youth hunt. Tyo was hunting with her grandfather,George Corlew in Nester Township, when she bagged the buck around9:45 a.m. Hunting out of a blind using a .243 rifle, she dropped the buckwith one shot at 140 yards. It was estimated the buck weighed between140 and 150 pounds. Tyo recently received her Distinguished ExpertShooting Award from the NRA through the Houghton Lake Sportsmen’sClub where she shoots in the after school program. Rory Jones, 10, Prudenville, was hunting on state land south of Prudenville with his grandfather, Earl Jones, Sept. 24 when he shot this doeusing a crossbow. The doe was about three years old and weighed 120pounds.
