Charles ‘Bob’ Diebel

Twenty-five year resident of Prudenville Charles ‘Bob’ Diebel, 85, died Nov. 7, 2011, at St. John’s Hospital, Warren.

Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. A service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Diebel was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Detroit, the son of Elmer and Florence (Metcalf) Diebel. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked for more than 30 years in purchasing at Chrysler.

He and his wife, Wilda, were married in a double ceremony May 21, 1948, with his twin brother, Elmer Jr. and his wife, Marie.

He was proud to have served as a gunner on a B-17 for the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Wilda; children, Robert (Kim), Douglas (Kathy Fazio) and Janet (Robert Heppner) Diebel; brother, Elmer Jr. (Marie); brother in-law and sister-in-law, Kemp and Marion Renno; grandchildren, Lisa (Edd Frazier), William, Katie, Ryan, Rachel (Douglas Bayne), Megan (Bill Wright), James and Joel; great-grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Austin, Kayse, Elizabeth, Matthew, Charlie and Rebecca; and many nieces and nephews.
