Coaches vs. Cancer raises over $2,800

On the court last Friday night, Houghton Lake and Roscommon battled in both boys and girls basketball games. Off the court, the teams battled something different: cancer.

In the four years the Coaches vs. Cancer game has been played, the two schools have raised over $9,300.

“That is something that both communities can be proud of and I hope that this fundraiser can continue to grow in future years,” Roscommon boys Coach M.J. Ewald said.

This year, Houghton Lake raised $1,731.25 while Roscommon raised $1,100 for a total of $2,831.25 -- the highest combined total so far. The money will be donated to the Relay for Life Roscommon County and to the American Cancer Society.
