St. Helen man sentenced for assault

Randall L. Franks, 27, St. Helen, was sentenced in 34th Circuit Court, Roscommon, to 12 months in jail with 10 months to be served immediately and two held in abeyance, 36 months probation, $500 in fines and costs, a $250 attorney fee, $3,363.91 restitution and $198 in other court assessments.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault. He was charged in connection with a July 19, 2011, assault of a 26-year-old Burton man while on an ORV trail in St. Helen.
