Former HL coach to be inducted into MHSFCA Hall of Fame

Former Houghton Lake High School Varsity Football Coach Matt Prisk will be inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame on March 24.

Prisk, who retired from coaching in 2007 as the head coach at Traverse City West High School, is among 14 honorees in 2012. The event will be held at the Ann Arbor Sheraton.

A coach for 26 years, Prisk coached at North Farmington, Houghton Lake and Traverse City. While at Houghton Lake, he was named the Class B Regional Coach of the Year in 1994 and the Jack Pine Conference Coach of the Year in 1994. Prisk also received numerous honors, including the Class A Regional Coach of the Year in 2004, while at TC West.

Prisk ended his career with a 173- 72-1 record. Prisk spent 11 years at Houghton Lake, the last five as the head coach, before moving on to TC West in 1997.
