Annual assessment could fix USPS
One of the reasons the USPS (United
States Postal Service) is hemorrhaging, is declining package delivery and first class mailings. The service needs a really big fix! Some of us, who still take our “pen in hand,” are trying to apply
CPR by continuing to purchase first class stamps. The post office established
RFD (Rural Free Delivery) in 1896.
One-hundred and sixteen years later we still benefit from it, and now think of it as something we deserve. For decades it was paid for by the purchase of stamps.
Would it now be appropriate to be assessed an annual fee of $10 for this convenience? For many, two or three akeresorter. trips to the post office would cost more, just for gas. What would you do about the problem?
