Missing fisherman found

After being reported missing by his mother, a 26-year old Cincinnati, OH man was found safe at Houghton Lake.

According to a Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office report, the man was reported missing at 9:50 p.m. He was last reported being seen about 200 yards off the shore of Houghton Lake near Lee’s Resort. The man’s mother said she, her husband and two sons had been fishing on the lake. All the family members left the lake except for the 26-year old who decided to continue fishing.

After a half hour, the man’s father and the other 16-year old son returned to the ice to find the man missing. They checked surrounding shanties and the area.

Sheriff Randy Stevenson was made aware of the situation and requested the Lake Township Fire Department airboat and the Roscommon Township Fire Department Argo be launched.

Shortly after the Argo was launched the man was found. He said his shanty was blown approximately 100 yards away from its original location after a storm came through. The man was reunited with his family without injury.
