‘Michigan Activity Pass’ offers access to arts
The Houghton Lake Public Library will participate in the Library Network’s collaborative program that will offer enhanced access to arts and cultural organizations throughout Michigan. The Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) will allow library users with a valid library card from one of Michigan’s nearly 400 public libraries to print a pass, either from home or at the library, to one of the nearly 60 participating institutions. Passes may provide free admission, special discounts or other exclusive offers for MAP pass holders.
Each library will have five passes for each of the 60 participating organizations from Monroe to Mackinaw City to Marquette, and all points in between. Included are the Detroit Institute of Arts, Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum in Marquette, and the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum in Mackinaw City. Other participating agencies include the unusual tour Toonerville Trolley or Jackson Historic Prison.
“Begin to enjoy Michigan’s cool stuff and great places - the fun begins at your library,” a press release stated.
MAP becomes available on the library web site (www.hlpl.org) tomorrow (Friday) and continues through May 23, 2014. For information, call the library 366-9230 or stop by the library at 4431 West Houghton Lake Dr.
