‘There is no place like this’

As I turn on my blinker seeing the Houghton Lake exit a calming feeling has come over my body. Home!

Our nightmare not over, but friends, family and community, just around the corner.

As you look around and feel like this area is slowing and you complain, and feel like leaving or thinking things are better elsewhere, there is no place like this. I found this out after entering my own nightmare. We could not have gotten through this without the support of everyone even strangers. Home no feeling like it. Thank you to everyone.

Bill McNeill and the McNeill Family

Editor’s note: Josh McNeill of Houghton Lake, a junior at Michigan State University, was the victim of an attack just off the MSU campus on Aug. 20. He suffered multiple face and skull fractures in the attack. After spending over a week in the hospital, McNeill, an accounting major, returned this week to classes at the school.
