RADL to offer kids activity/ Irish folk concert Feb. 22

Roscommon Area District Library has a day filled with events Feb. 22 for both children and adults as a Spirograph event and Irish folk concert have been planned for that day.

Since Roscommon Area Public Schools will have an early release day Feb. 22, RADL will host a free Spirograph activity for children beginning at 1:30 p.m. Spirographs will be available, as well as a healthy snack.

Then at 5:30 p.m. the library has planned an Irish folk concert featuring Siusan O’Rourke and Zig Zeitler, who will be performing traditional Irish folk music. O’Rourke and Zeitler are seasoned and versatile musicians who started the White Crow Conservatory of Music.

O’Rourke is able to morph seamlessly from treasured timeless songs to contemporary from Irish tradition to American roots from sorrowful ballads to whimsical songs, bringing to her audiences an evening of music that is fully experienced and remembered long after the last song is sung.

Snacks will be provided and the concert is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Roscommon Area District Library.

On Feb. 25 RADL Cinema will host a showing of “Arrival” (rated PG-13) at 2 p.m. The plot follows linguistics professor Louise Banks (Amy Adams), who leads an elite team of investigators when gigantic spaceships touch down in 12 locations around the world.

As nations teeter on the verge of global war, Banks and her crew must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors. Hoping to unravel the mystery, she takes a chance that could threaten her life and quite possibly all of mankind.
