Thomas R. Burge

Thomas R. Burge, 74, died Feb. 12, 2017, surrounded by family at his Houghton Lake home.

Visitation will be held today (Thurs­day, Feb. 16) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel. Fu­neral services for Mr. Burge will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. James N. Kent officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Cem­etery, Markey Township, in the spring.

Born Jan. 26, 1943, in Flint, he was the son of Thomas and Unice (Ecarius) Burge. He grew up and graduated from school in the Flint area.

Mr. Burge worked as a distributor at Fisher Body for General Motors from the age of 18 until he retired. He moved to Houghton Lake from Burton in 1990. On May 7, 1995 in Burton, he married Carol Frankhouse.

He served as a member of the Mar­key Township Planning Commission for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and bowling.

Surviving Mr. Burge are his wife of 21 years, Carol Burge of Houghton Lake; two stepsons, John Stogiera of Hough­ton Lake and Matthew (Anna) Stogiera of Houghton Lake; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Jordan, Ryan, Domi­nic, Faith and Logan; mother-in-law, RoseMarie Frankhouse of Houghton Lake; and many extend family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
