State Police make arrests in Moorestown

Trooper Evan Alkema of the Houghton Lake Post was busy in Moorestown during the night of March 14 and the early morning of March 15, arresting two individuals, one on outstanding warrants and the other on drug charges.

During the early morning hours of March 15, Alkema arrested a 30-year- old Moorestown man who was pulled over for defective equipment on his vehicle. The man had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, one from Missaukee County and one from Wexford County. He was lodged in the Missaukee County Jail.

According to Sgt. David Johnson of the Houghton Lake Post, on Tuesday evening (earlier during the same shift), Alkema stopped a vehicle for speeding near Moorestown, and after detecting the odor of marijuana, determined that the front seat passenger, an 18-year-old Harrison man, “was attempting to eat the suspected marijuana he had on his person while the Trooper was walking up to the vehicle.”

Johnson said “a sizable quantity of suspected marijuana and butane hash oil was seized from the vehicle” during a search. The suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana and lodged in the Missaukee County Jail.
