David Franklin Harkness
David Franklin Harkness, 81, died April 12, 2017, at his home in St. Helen.
A memorial service will be held at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church, West Branch, Tuesday, April 18, at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
He was born July 5, 1935, in Mississippi, the son of James and Ruby (King) Harkness. He married Denise Marsaw April 9, 1977, in Flint.
He had lived in St. Helen since 1993 and was formerly from Hazel Park. He was a member of Faith Temple in Madison Heights and Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch, where he served as an usher, greeter and board member. He enjoyed fishing, target practicing, playing on the Wii and Farkle, and faithfully reading his Bible for over 40 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Roger Harkness; and three siblings.
Surviving Mr. Harkness are his wife of 40 years, Denise Harkness of St. Helen; daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Ward of Flushing and Nancy (David) Brusich of Prescott, AZ; grandchildren, Aaron, Jennifer, Stephanie, Brianna, Chloe and Hope; great-grandchildren, Sunny Rae and Kaleigh; sister, Helen (Dennis) Goodrow of Livonia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
