William E. Kittle

Longtime Houghton Lake resident William E. Kittle, 92, Huron Township, died April 9, 2017, at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte.

Visitation will be at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel, 26307 East Huron River Dr., Monday, April 17, at 3 p.m. until a memorial service at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Born July 5, 1924, in New Boston, he was the son of Frank and Eva (Gilland) Kittle. On Nov. 24, 1947, he married Bernadine Bogoske in Bowling Green, OH. He was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Force 1944-45. He was employed with McLouth Steel, Trenton, as a millwright for 30 years, until his retirement in 1986.

After retirement, he and his wife spent 30 years living at Houghton Lake, where they enjoyed their retirement fishing. He also enjoyed riding on snowmobiles, doing all kinds of puzzles and gardening.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Charles and Frederick; and three sisters, Genevieve Thomas, Joyce Dulong and Viola Johnson.

Surviving are his wife, Bernadine Kittle of New Boston; three daughters, Gloria Lents, Linda Kittle and Mary (Wiley) VanHooser, all of New Boston; brother, Earl Kittle of Houghton Lake; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
