Showcase a good step

Business expos held by the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce (next week) and the Higgins Lake-Roscommon Chamber of Commerce (in May) have been successful over the past several years.

The expos have attracted many and serve as a way to network and interact with other businesses, visitors and residents. We encourage attendance at both events.

This year, in addition to the Houghton Lake Chamber’s Business Expo April 26, the “Houghton Lake Skilled Trades Showcase” is planned the next day at Houghton Lake High School. The goal is to give area skilled trades businesses an opportunity to make connections and gain access to possible future employees at the high school.

It serves a purpose for both employees and high school students. It will be an opportunity for students to learn about what is offered by both employers and educational institutions.

The showcase is another step in helping to bring opportunities to our youth and area businesses.
