RADL to host author Joel Vernier, smartphone class

Author Joel Vernier will host a discussion on his new book “The Guinea Pig in the Freezer!,” at Roscommon Area District Library April 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Vernier, a humor columnist and management consultant, will share real life stories with his positive and funny style. The book begins on the eve of the birth of his daughter, Chris, and follows her growing up from an infant to adulthood, with many anecdotes, challenges and experiences along the way. The book is complete with teaching moments and the menagerie of animals that have enriched all of the lives of everyone that has interacted with the Vernier family.

The Verniers have shared their lives with golden retrievers, a bichon frise, bunnies, cats, a crayfish, a guinea pig and many beautiful horses on their 50-acre equestrian training center in Gladwin. “The Guinea Pig in the Freezer!” is written for all audiences and age groups, parents, relatives, children and friends.

Then on May 2 at 3 p.m., Anthony Gnesotto of Classic Computer Repair will be teaching a free class on how to best use an Android smartphone or tablet.

Google, Samsung and LG phones are the most common Android phones available, but they don’t exactly come with an instruction manual, Gnesotto said. The goal of the class will be to teach participants how to get the most out of their smartphones or tablets and Gnesotto will also discuss a few apps that participants might not know about.

This class is open to all ages and those who attend are asked to bring their devices. Registration is not required for this class. For information specific to this class call Classic Computer Repair at 281-1409.

Programming is free and open to the public. For information call 281- 1305. RADL is located at 106 Lake St., Roscommon.
