Gracia D. Rose

Houghton Lake resident Gracia D. Rose, 81, died April 13, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family.

Chapel services will be conducted today (Thursday, April 20) at 2 p.m. at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribu­tions may be directed to the family.

She was born March 19, 1936, in Port Huron, the daughter of Dorwin and Francis (Meinke) Black. She grew up in Port Huron and graduated from Port Huron High School. She and Jerry D. Rose were united in marriage June 18, 1956, in Port Huron.

Mrs. Rose worked as a cafeteria worker for Kmart in Waterford for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Waterford Elks and a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles. She loved flow­ers and sewing and she often would en­joy babysitting children for family and friends when they had to work. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Preceding her in death were her par­ents; and sister, Gayle Black.

Surviving Mrs. Rose are her husband of 61 years, Jerry D. Rose of Houghton Lake; three sons, Gregory (Kathy) Rose of Waterford, Kerry Rose of Houghton Lake and Kevin Rose of Lowell; two daughters, Kimberly (Ricky) Danton of Waterford and Cheryl (Mark) Schasser of Croswell; 11 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; sister, Judith (Doug) Beard of Florida; brother, David (Sha­ron) Black of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled the arrangements.
