Bass fishing tourney to benefit children’s assessment center

The Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center will host a Bass Fishing Tournament fundraiser June 3 on Houghton Lake.

Proceeds will benefit the NMCAC, which seeks to prevent and to educate the public on child abuse and neglect, as well as to reduce the trauma of child abuse and neglect by providing a timely, comprehensive and multidisciplinary response to allegations in a safe, agency-neutral, child focused setting.

Check-in begins at 6 a.m. Boats will take off at 7 a.m. at the Department of Natural Resources West Shore Boat Launch (off Old 27). Fishing will end at 2 p.m.

Lunker and door prizes are planned and the winner of the tournament will receive $600. Second place receives $300 and third will get $200. Cash prizes will be given through seventh place.

Registration is $100 per boat. Call the NMCAC at 275-7145 or email office@nmcac4kids.org for information.

Sponsors are also being sought.
