Buck girls start season with road win

The Roscommon varsity softball team started off their season with a road win at McBain on April 12. The Bucks beat the Ramblers 10-5 in the first game of their doubleheader.

Emily Barnhart was on the mound for the Bucks in game one, scoring a total of six strikeouts. She also went 2-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Other hitters for Roscommon were Kayla Kibby, 2-4, two RBIs; Taylor Hubbard, 1-4, two RBIs; Sarah Dibbet, 1-4, two RBIs and Anna Erickson, 1-2, one RBI.

Erickson was on the mound for Roscommon in game two, taking a 7-3 loss and scoring one strikeout.

Hitting for the Bucks in game two were Lauren Holm, 2-3, two RBIs; Dib­bet, 3-4; Kelsey Kohn, 1-3; Hubbard, 1-2; Sarah Thompson, 1-2 and Barnhart, 1-4.

On April 17, the Bucks traveled to Ogemaw Heights, where they were beat­en in both halves of a doubleheader, 15-0 and 21-2. Barnhart took both losses on the mound, and scored three strikeouts in game two.

Barnhart and Kohn both went 1-2 in game one. In game two, Barnhart went 2-3; Holm, 1-2, two RBIs and Dibbet had one hit.

The Bucks also suffered two losses at Tawas on April 13, losing to the Braves 11-5 and 15-0. Barnhart took the loss in game one, striking out two. Kohn, Madi­son Baerlocher and Emily Terry all went 1-2 at the plate and Jessica Hollister was 1-1.

Erickson took the loss in game two, scoring one strikeout. The Bucks were allowed no hits.

Roscommon was scheduled to play at Standish on April 19, Grayling on April 20 and their first home games of the sea­son against Beaverton on April 27.
