Start putting American people first

I read with interest, but much more with disgust, Rep. John Moolenaar’s recent article that appeared in the Houghton Lake Resorter (“First step in reform,” May 11), about his vote for the American Health Care Act. I am not surprised by his vote, as I knew he would choose party over country.

The Republican party had eight years to tweak the Affordable Care Act, but chose instead to spend millions of taxpayers’ money trying in vain, to repeal it, over 50 times I believe. What a waste. Now, Rep. Moolenaar thinks in a few days his party can come up with a plan for such a complicated issue. How insane is that?

The American people are against this plan, the American Medical Association (AMA) and AARP, just to name a few, are against this plan. Does Congressman Moolenaar think maybe they are on to something, that they may know more than him?

Any plan that knocks 12 million or more people off it, and that gives the already filthy rich even more of a tax break, is never a good plan. Wake up, start putting the American people first. Stop supporting this insane president and failing government. Do the right thing.
