Boyle launches Bucks to third overall at Falcon Invite

Roscommon’s Jack Boyle won both the shot put and discus as he helped Roscommon to a third place overall finish at the Falcon Invitational May 12 at Ogemaw Heights.

Whittemore-Prescott won the meet, and small school division, with 222 points while Alpena was second with 189.5 points (and also won the large school division). Roscommon was third with 120 points, and also finished second in the small school division.

For Houghton Lake, Jackson Blanchard won both the 110m hurdles (15.14) and 300m hurdles (39.25) as the Bobcats finished fifth with 58 points in the small school division and 12th overall out of 15 teams.

Bucks second

In addition to Boyle’s championships, the Bucks had two athletes and two relay teams take second place medals.

Boyle’s top throws were 52’5” in the shot put and 141’9” in the discus.

Thomas Pastell finished second in the 800m (2:07.05) and Hunter Eichorn was second in the high jump (5’9”). The 1600m relay team of Jose Valdez, Eichorn, Pastell and Dylan McCarthy was second in 3:39.10 while the 3200m relay team of Grant Gabalis, Pastell, Eric Turner and Valdez was second in 8:48.6.

Third place went to Turner in the 1600m (4:52.62) and Brenden Coulter in the 300m hurdles (43.84) and long jump (18’6.5”). The 400m relay team of Eichorn, McCarthy, Dakota Simpson and Connor Finn was third in 47.64 while the 800m relay team of Brady Hilts, Finn, Dalton Sharpe and Simpson was third in 1:39.85.

Taking fourth were Gabalis in the 800m (2:16.54) and 3200m (11:34.34) and Coulter in the 110m hurdles (16.98). Finishing fifth were Valdez in the 400m (55.76), McCarthy in the high jump (5’7”) and Sharpe in the long jump (17.8”).

Sixth went to McCarthy in the 200m (24.29), Eichorn in the 400m (55.78) and Seth Keipert in the discus (106’4”). Taking seventh were Gabalis in the 1600m (5:10.85), Sebert in the 300m hurdles (47.17) and Mike Ficaj in the shot put (34’9”). Finishing eighth was Sharpe in the 100m (12.44).

Bobcats fifth

Blanchard added to his first place finish with a second place medal in the 200m dash (23.14)

Grabbing a third place medal was Hunter Wood in the discus (117’10”). Fourth place went to Nathan Wilder in the 300m hurdles (44.79) and the 3200m relay team of Tyler Haggart, Peterson, Corey Allen and Connor Allen (9:56.05).

Finishing fifth were Peterson in the 1600m (5:06.71) and Shawn McKinley in the shot put (37’1.5”).

Taking sixth was Peterson in the 800m (2:20.13) while seventh went to Robert Press in the 100m (12.42). Eighth went to Henry Wallison in the 3200m (12:24.56) and Wilder in the 110m hurdles (18.67).
