Suzan Marie Spanielewski

Suzan Marie Spanielewski, 64, Houghton Lake, died July 5, 2017, at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.

A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Lay Minister Sue Lazell officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service, beginning at 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

She was born April 27, 1953, in Cheboygan to Jack and Helen (Walters) Chenette. She moved to the Houghton Lake area at a young age and gradu­ated from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1971.

Mrs. Spanielewski spent most of her life in the Houghton Lake area where she was a waitress for many years working at Randy’s Family Restaurant, Big Boy and the Houghton-Higgins Lake Elks Lodge. She then became a certified nurs­ing assistant working at The Brook of Houghton Lake and King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

She was a member of Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and Method­ist Women. Mrs. Spanielewski enjoyed sewing projects, scrapbooking, flowers and gardening. She loved going on road trips, especially going to the casino with her mother or thrift store adventuring.

Preceding her in death were her par­ents; sister, Lynnetta Bierlein; and broth­er Jack E. Chenette.

Surviving Mrs. Spanielewski are her daughter, Jennifer Flick of Prudenville; son, Charles “Bucky” (Jamie O’Conner) Spanielewski of Clarkston; grandchil­dren, Dylan Palacios and Madison Flick; great-grandson, Connor Palacios; sister, Deborah Chenette of Houghton Lake; brother, Clant (Penny) Chenette of Houghton Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are asked to be directed to the family. Christler Fu­neral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled the arrangements.
