Household Hazardous Waste Day Saturday

This Saturday is the second of two Household Hazardous Waste Days the Craw­ford Roscommon Con­servation Dis­trict will host for Roscommon County residents in 2017.

Items may be brought to the Roscommon County Road Commission, 820 East West Branch Rd. (M-55), between Prudenville and I-75, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free event is held twice a year. Supporting the event are the town­ships of AuSable, Backus, Denton, Gerrish, Higgins, Lake, Lyon, Markey, Nester, Rich­field and Roscommon, as well as the Roscommon County Com­missioners.

Resident may bring any of the following: Aerosols, auto liquids, cleaners, corrosives, fertilizers, florescent light bulbs, glues, herbicides, medicines, used motor oil, oil-based paints, pesti­cides, smoke alarms/detec­tors and sol­vents. E-waste includes almost anything with a cord or that is battery operated that does not contain freon.

Items not be ac­cepted: Explosives, bombs, fireworks, propane tanks, large appliances, latex paint, building materials of any kind or empty containers. The committee holds the right to re­fuse any item not specified on the list.

Residents are asked to separate items such as ammunition, batteries, cell phones, computers, televisions, ink jet and laser toner cartridges and Styrofoam (no peanuts will be accepted and the Sty­rofoam must be broken up).

Tires will also be accepted, on or off the rim. There is no charge for the first two tires per household (there is a $2 charge for each additional tire).
