Melvin George Koch

Melvin George Koch, 88, died Sept. 8, 2017, at his home in St. Helen. 

His wishes were that he be cremated and laid to rest next to his two sons in St. Helen. Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, St. Helen.

He was born July 31, 1929, in Detroit. He had been a full-time resident of St. Helen since 1990, when he retired from Ford Motor Company. In 1972, he purchased property in St. Helen and spent every weekend enjoying the area. He would then travel back to his home in Detroit to go to work as a design engineer at Ford where he worked for more than 40 years. 

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in St. Helen and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in West Branch. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and boating. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and sons, Carl and Kenny Koch.

Surviving Mr. Koch are caretaker, Dawn Steckling of St. Helen; and his grandchildren, Autumn Arnold, Thomas Arnold, Madasun Rosenthal, Grace Rosenthal and Ema-lee Swinson.
