Project Appleseed coming to Houghton Lake

The Houghton Lake Sportsmen’s Club is hosting a Project Appleseed event Sept. 23 and 24.

The event runs 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Project Appleseed teaches rifle marksmanship to both youths and adults. Students will learn steady hold factors using a G.I. web sling for three different shooting positions, target acquisition, range estimation as well as rifle safety. The cost is $60 for adults and $20 for youth. Active duty military and law enforcement are free with proper identification.

Interested students can sign up for the class by going to www.appleseedinfo.org and going to the events tab. Any other questions can be directed to Chris Nieman at (231) 250-3300.
