Shirley May Woodcock

Shirley May Woodcock, Higgins Lake, died at the age of 87 Oct. 5, 2017, at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

A private service will be held later. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Higgins Lake. Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, handled arrangements.

She was born in Dearborn Sept. 10, 1930, to Oliver J. and Elizabeth M. (Fuller) Griffen. She had lived at Hig­gins Lake since 1991, having moved from Wayne.

She and John E. Woodcock were united in marriage April 7, 1951, in Wayne. He preceded her in death July 7, 2005.

Mrs. Woodcock had been an operator for Michigan Bell telephone company for eight years and a clerical worker for Ford Motor Company for 29 years, retir­ing in 1991.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, John, were a brother and two sisters.

Surviving are her niece, Janet Lowas of Yale; nephew, Eric (Desiree) Lowas of West Branch; and dear friends, Nora (Jim) Grappin of Higgins Lake, Nancy (Doug) Stiff of Sterling Heights, Heidi (Larry) Foster of Houghton Lake and Elizabeth Mahlmeister of Higgins Lake.
