Walter Allen Sherwood

Walter Allen Sherwood, 83, Houghton Lake, died Nov. 30, 2017, in Grayling.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Houghton Lake United Methodist Church Saturday, Dec. 9, at noon, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, is handling the arrangements.

He was born July 23, 1934, to Alva and Margaret Mae (Lancaster) Sherwood in McBride. He married Leona Lawrence in December, 1974.

He graduated from Edmore High School in 1952 and went on to become a licensed electrician. He spent 40 years working for General Electric and Hitachi Magnetics in Edmore, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, gardening, watching wildlife and spending time with friends and family.

He enjoyed meeting people and was loved by everyone he met.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Terri Lyn Cramton; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Leona; daughters, Susan Pung, LuAnne (David) Cooper and Lori (Ron) Zordell; three grandsons, David and Lucas Cramton and Justin Pung; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna Cramton; sister, Eva Bilello; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Houghton Lake United Methodist Church.
