Interact collecting cans, bottles for service trip to El Salvador

Houghton Lake High School Rotary Interact students are collecting returnable beverage cans and bottles, of all types, to raise funds for their service trip to El Salvador in the spring.

The students are collecting “empties” through Jan. 6, 2018 for their “Holiday Can/Bottle Fundraising Event.” Students encourage residents and visitors to donate their empties to assist them to help pay trip costs for the 18 students who have volunteered to spend 10 days in San Salvador to build concrete homes for multigenerational families in great need.

The students are very grateful for every returnable container collected, as every dime brings them closer to their service trip funding goal.

Donors can donate directly to Rotary Interact students they know or may call Rhonda Lamberg, Rotarian and club advisor, at 329-6795, to arrange to have the returnables picked up. Donors can also drop their empties off at Cashaway Supply, at 3945 West Houghton Lake Dr., Houghton Lake, during store hours, Monday- Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and after hours by dropping them at the store’s back entrance.
