Drivers, passengers arrested by MSP

State Police from the Houghton Lake Post made several arrests in Roscommon County last week.

At 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 2, troopers made a traffic stop in Roscommon Township for defective equipment. Further inves­tigation lead to the driver, a 43-year-old woman from Houghton Lake, being ar­rested for possession of marijuana.

On Dec. 1, troopers arrested a 21-year-old Houghton Lake man for domestic violence assault. The man and his girlfriend, who live together in Roscommon Township and have a child in common, started arguing and during the argument, the man grabbed his girl­friend’s neck and squeezed for approxi­mately three seconds.

He was arrested and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail. Charges are being sought for strangulation.

State Police also arrested a 44-year- old Roscommon woman in Grayling for operating while intoxicated (OWI) with a high blood alcohol content af­ter stopping her for disregarding a stop sign at the intersection of Maple St. and Michigan Ave. She was lodged in the Crawford County Jail.

On Nov. 29, at 11 p.m., troopers stopped a driver on Sharon Lane in Mar­key Township due to a defective head­light. The driver, a 32-year-old West Bloomfield man, was found to be OWI, was arrested on a charge of OWI, third offense, and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail.

Prosecution in the case pends analy­sis of a blood draw taken from the sus­pect.

On Nov. 28 at 6:30 a.m., troopers observed a vehicle crossing the fog line on northbound US-127 in Lyon Town­ship. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, a 68-year-old Roscommon man, was found to be driving on a suspended license.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 30-year-old man from Midland, was found to be in possession of suspected heroin paraphernalia, which was confis­cated by police and sent to the Grayling Crime Lab for analysis. Charges in the case pend crime lab results.
