Three members of State Police 133rd Recruit School assigned to Houghton Lake

Trooper Trisha Overby Trooper Trisha Overby On Nov. 30 the Michigan State Police 133rd Recruit School gradu­ated 127 new troopers, and three of them have been assigned to the Houghton Lake Post according to Post Commander First Lt. Josh Lator.

In a Nov. 30 press release, Lator said Trooper Trisha Overby of Flushing, Trooper Joshua Stinson of Royal Oak, and Trooper Cabria Shirley of Morency were sworn in as Michigan State Troopers at a graduation ceremony in Lansing that day. The troopers successful­ly completed the 26-week recruit school, which began with 160 pro­spective troopers on June 4.

Overby, Stinson and Shirley will now enter the MSP Field Training Officer program, where they will train as probationary troopers with senior troopers at the Houghton Lake Post for the next 20 weeks. Af­ter completing the FTO program, they will be full troopers and able to work on their own.

Also graduating as a member of the 133rd Recruit School was 2012 Houghton Lake graduate Dakota Kolo. Kolo will start his career as a trooper at the Mt. Pleasant Post.
