Robert S. Jenkins

Robert S. Jenkins, 92, Houghton Lake, died Feb. 3, 2018, at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 8) at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ted Voll officiating. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery, Pruden­ville. Visitation will be held the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the service at St. John Lutheran Church.

Born May 15, 1925, in Bay City, he was the son of Eathern and Margaret (Lunger) Jenkins. He grew up in the Bay City area and graduated from high school in Bay City. He served as a Tec 4 in the Army during World War II and served in the Navy during the Korean War as a photographer. He received many med­als including Expert Infantryman Com­bat Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and Bronze Arrowhead. He worked as a supervisor of janitorial services for Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids for many years before his retirement. He moved to the Houghton Lake area from Grand Rapids 12 years ago. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying.

Preceding him in death were his par­ents; and sister, Kathryn Norine Riessen.

Surviving Mr. Jenkins are several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

Memorial contributions can be di­rected to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, handled the arrangements.
