Jane (Early) Parfitt

Jane (Early) Parfitt, 95, Chipley, FL, fomerly of Houghton Lake, died Jan. 29, 2018, at Bay Medical Center's Covenant Hospice Wing.

A service was held at First United Methodist Church in Chipley, FL, Feb. 8, with Dr. Trish Bruner officiating. Final resting place will be at Houghton Lake, next to her late husband, Ronald Parfitt.

She was born in East Palestine, OH, Dec. 29, 1922, to the late Paul and Esther (Sellers) Early.

She met Ronald Parfitt in 1941, during nursing school. They later married Jan. 5, 1945, after World War II. They were married 39 years, until her husband's death in March, 1985.

Mrs. Parfitt had lived in the Florida Panhandle for the previous 13 years, having moved from New Port Richie, FL. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chipley, FL.

She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, OH, in 1942, and started a long career in nursing. She loved her work in hospitals and public health departments. Even after retirement, she was always helping others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her son, Lew Parfitt; husband, Ronald Parfitt; parents; and brother, Bud Early.

Surviving Mrs. Parfitt are her daughters, Kim (John) Blythe of Chipley, FL, and Ginny (Bob) Hecker of Dunedin, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Joshua (Ashley) Hecker and Betsey (John) DiSanza; great-grandchildren, Penny and Owen Hecker and Gabriel DiSanza; and brother, Nelson Early of Springfield, OH.
