John Harrison Hartman




 

 

Former owner of S & J Excavating, John Harrison Hartman, 71, Roscommon, died Jan. 29, 2020, at home, in the presence and comfort of his family.

A service was held Feb. 1 at S & J Excavating Shop, Roscommon. Arrangements were handled by Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.

He was born July 1, 1948, in Grayling, the son of Wilson and Dorothy (Sauer) Hartman. He and his wife, Sue, owned and operated S & J Excavating from 1978 until his son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Nickie Hartman, succeeded them in ownership in the spring of 2019.

Mr. Hartman will be remembered for loving his collection of hot rods. He enjoyed riding his trike, “The Boss Hoss.” He was a former president of the Village of Roscommon and had been a commissioner of the Crawford County Road Commission.

He was all about his family. He was proud of his son, Wade, and he had the love of his life, Susie. He especially loved his grandchildren and his great-grandson, Easton. He is known for having lived his life to its fullest. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Jennifer Myer; and Gramma Waters.

Surviving are his wife, Susie; son, Wade (Nickie) Hartman; son-in-law, Paul Myer; grandchildren, Ryan (Alexis Marchese) Nagy, Chad Hartman and Kyle Hartman; great-grandson, Easton Nagy; and sisters, Lyn Rae Ferranti and Dana (Richard) Shunk.
