Houghton Lake Resorter

Robert Edward Lee Jr.

Robert Edward Lee Jr., 65, Houghton Lake, died Sept. 23, 2019, at his home.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held at the family home, located at 106 Cherry St., Houghton Lake from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Youth Ministers Andrew and Charity Thompson officiating.

Born Jan. 28, 1954, in Taylor, he was the son of Robert and Lois (Blue) Lee Sr. He grew up in the Dansville area where he graduated from Dansville High School. He spent several years in Florida where he worked in appliance delivery, at his own business, and he worked for Sears and G.E. In Palm Beach Gardens, FL, he met Sandra Rotroff and they married in 2009. The couple moved back to Dansville in 2009 and then to Houghton Lake in 2015 to the Lee family home, which he remodeled. He enjoyed driving through the Deadstream Swamp where he collected berries and mushrooms, and got stuck several times, just like he had done in earlier years when his family had tree farms in the Moorestown area. But his special love was staying home with his daughter, Lilyann, enjoying his large garden, the outdoors and taking care of the homestead.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Lee of Houghton Lake; daughter, Lilyann Blue Lee of Houghton Lake; two stepsons, William Parrish of Jackson and David Rowe of West Palm Beach, FL; and sister, Sherill (Leslie) Tomlin of Indiana.

Memorial contributions are asked to be directed to Mrs. Schultz’s fifth grade class at Houghton Lake Community Schools.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled arrangements.
