Former Roscommon County Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Allen Swanson, 78, died June 13, 2022, at his Prudenville home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date for those who want to share their numerous “Tom” stories. His words in life and in death: “Do me a favor…Keep ‘er between the ditches.”
He was born Feb. 29, 1944, in Saginaw, to Sherwood and Alice (Fager) Swanson. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1967-1971. He was married July 11, 1970, at Houghton Lake, to Michele McClintic.
Mr. Swanson attended Detroit College of Law, where he graduated in 1975. The couple moved to the Houghton Lake area more than 40 years ago. He was a former prosecuting attorney for Roscommon County and later started his own law practice. He was still actively working. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, storytelling and hanging out with his children, grandchildren and countless friends.
He is survived by his children, Eric Swanson of Houghton Lake, and Devin (Brad) George of Florida; grandchildren, Aaden George and Aubrey George; and partner Cynthia Shue of Prudenville. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and wife, Michele.
Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, handled the arrangements.
